Captain America: The Winter Soldier: Robert Redford Cast

Here is a fun Marvel scoop. I’m hearing that Robert Redford is in discussions to join the cast of Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier, the sequel that brings Chris Evans back as the shield-carrying superhero. Redford is in talks to play a senior leadership role in S.H.I.E.L.D., the superhero collective run by Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury character. Joe and Anthony Russo are directing the film from a script by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, whose Marvel script credits include Captain America: The First Avenger and the upcoming Thor: The Dark World. The sequel will be released by Disney on April 4, 2014.
In between running his Sundance empire, Redford most recently starred in All Is Lost, the J.C. Chandor-scripted and directed survival tale. While Marvel was predictably mum as Kevin Feige’s unit always is on casting matters, Marvel characters have a tendency to show up in other superhero movies, and I believe that is likely to be on the menu for Redford. It will be somewhat ironic for the patriarch of independent cinema to become a regular in some of Hollywood’s biggest studio blockbusters. Redford’s repped by WME.
Redford directed and stars in The Company You Keep, which Sony Pictures Classics releases April 5, with Shia La Beouf, Stanley Tucci, Nick Nolte, Susan Sarandon, Julie Christie, Sam Elliott, Brit Marling and Chris Cooper starring.

Interview: Joss Whedon Talks Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. And More

Joss Whedon is making a much anticipated appearance atSXSW to present his indie modern retelling of the Shakespeare comedy Much Ado About Nothing. That’s the microbudgeted pic he shot in 12 days in secret under his Bellwether Pictures banner while working on Marvel‘s The Avengers. Picked up after its Toronto debut, the film screens in Austin with a panel  on Saturday in front of his rabid fanbase – then hits theaters June 7 via Lionsgate/Roadside Attractions. (The film releases June 14 in the UK via Kaleidoscope, which is also handling international sales.)Joss Whedon
Whedon recently wrapped his pilot for Marvel’s S.H.I.E.L.D. series and is set to work on The Avengers 2 for a 2015 release. He’s also contracted for three years as a creative consultant to Marvel, helping studio head Kevin Feige develop the sprawling superhero universe. Whedon admits the Marvel commitments may not leave time anymore for passion projects like Much Adobecause he’s “in constant danger of burning out”. He also talks to Deadline’s Jen Yamato and contributor Joe Utichi about what could have been – Wonder WomanStar Wars  – and what might still be for The Hulk:
DEADLINE: Most directors helming a giant summer blockbuster wouldn’t choose to use their 2-week break to make a small Shakespeare film.
WHEDON: Making The Avengers was very important to me, but it was also extremely arduous. I missed my friends and I missed my home, so I decided to throw them all on camera which is the only way I seem to know to relate to people. But I was blissfully happy when we were shooting Much Ado About Nothing – and it was actually one week and three weekends – and then I went back to cutting Avengers much better. I was in the very early process – my first assembly was very long. When I came back from Much Ado, without any rancor or confusion, I was able to cut the film down to length and readily focus on the things that mattered. I think I would have come to that one way or another, butMuch Ado sped it up. Here I was making absolute giddy ridiculous art with no expectations, and nothing but joy – and wishing that my neighbors’ dogs would shut up.

Interview: Clark Gregg Talks Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. And More

Clark Gregg Talks S.H.I.E.L.D. TV Series, the Return of Agent Coulson and How It’ll be Explained, Could He Be in Future Marvel Movies, and More

SHIELD-tv-series-details-Clark-Gregg-slice

“Coulson Lives”.  Clark Gregg, who has been doing terrific work throughout his career, finally found a devoted fan following for his beloved performance as S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Phil Coulson.  A minor character who still managed to steal scenes with only a few lines, Coulson really got to stand out in The Avengers, and his death left fans reeling.  Then a S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series was announced, and it turned out Coulson wasn’t quite so dead after all.  Fans rejoiced, and while a pilot for the show has been filmed, details are still scarce.  Now that Coulson is back in the world of the living, Gregg spoke with Steve at WonderCon about joining the TV series, how it will explain Coulson’s return, working with a smaller budget, and if Coulson will come back to the movies.  Hit the jump for what he had to say.
the-avengers-clark-gregg-agent-coulson-posterGregg found his exit from the Marvel Universe to be bittersweet when Coulson was killed off, and while he would have loved to make that death less-than-permanent, he never took talk of a resurrection seriously until Joss Whedoncame calling:
I’ve been so happy and living this geek fantasy as they kept adding Agent Coulson to everything including The Avengers and then gave him this magnificent, almost Shakespearean death scene, and I found out on that day how much I loved this guy and had come to identify with him partly because of the way fans responded to him, and also because he had such a great niche in those movies.  He got to be funny, he got to be, in this case, heroic.  And then I got to say good-bye to him, and it was a very emotional day.  And yet I feel what Joss did with that was a fantastic conclusion of the character.  And even though my friends at Marvel said, “You know, we spent a lot of time talking about how Coulson lives, and we know that there’s a movement out there, and there are t-shirts and people paint on bridges ‘Coulson Lives’, we’re going to bring you back”, and it’s one of the many things people tell you that never ever happens.  And then I get this call from Joss saying, “Well…there’s a script.  And here’s what we’re thinking, and it’s after The Avengers, and here’s the concept.”  By the time Joss finished telling me, I was in.

Interview: Cobie Smulders About Starring In Agents Od S.H.I.E.L.D. (Clip)

Interview: Cobie Smulders Talks Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. And Captain America: The Winter Soldier

No less a source than Cobie Smulders – S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Maria Hill – is sharing some inside information on next year's Captain America: The Winter Soldier and the possibility that we'll see the character in action on the S.H.I.E.L.D. television series.
Best known for starring as scotch-drinking Canadian pistol Robin Scherbatsky for eight seasons on the popular CBS sitcom How I Met Your MotherSmulders joined the Marvel Studios cinematic universe last summer with The Avengers.  The actress also plays a major role in Relativity Media's Safe Haven, which stars Julianne Hough (Rock of Ages) and Josh Duhamel (Transformers).
In an exclusive interview with IAR Managing Editor Jami Philbrick regarding the Nicholas Sparks adaptation,Smulders took the time to address her ongoing role as Maria Hill.  Check back closer to Safe Haven's February February 14th theatrical release for the full interview.  For now though, check out her insights on Hill's role in the Marvel universe.
While this year's Iron Man 3 and Thor: The Dark World are expected to be more insular, 2014's Captain America: The Winter Soldier will reunite much of the supporting cast from last summer's superhero team up.  Smulders will appear alongside her fellow The Avengers actors Chris Evans (Puncture), Samuel L. Jackson (Django Unchained), andScarlett Johansson (Hitchcock), along with new additions Anthony Mackie (Gangster Squad) and Frank Grillo (The Grey).  They're joined by Captain America: The First Avengers players Toby Jones and Sebastian Stan, reprising their respective roles as HYDRA scientist Armin Zola and Bucky Barnes-turned-titular-amnesiac assassin.

Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Press Release

Joss Whedon (MARVEL’S THE AVENGERS, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) shows us not all heroes are super with MARVEL’S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.
Fresh from his role in the summer’s box office smash, MARVEL’S THE AVENGERS, Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) returns to the worldwide law enforcement organization S.H.I.E.L.D.  He puts together a small, highly trained, team of Agents to tackle the cases that haven’t been classified yet, the new, the strange and the unknown.  That team consists of straight arrow Agent Grant Ward (Brett Dalton), an expert in combat and espionage; pilot and martial artist Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen); and brilliant if socially awkward scientists Agent Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) and Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge). They’ll be joined by civilian new recruit and computer hacker Skye (Chloe Bennet).
Prepare for an epic adventure that showcases the hope and wonder of the human spirit. This is a world of Super Heroes, aliens and the unusual – of action, spectacle and world spanning stories. The show will speak to the human condition through the lens of our very human, non-powered S.H.I.E.L.D agents – that together we are greater than we are apart, and that we can make a difference in the world.
Executive Produced and co-written by Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon & Maurissa Tancharoen (Dollhouse, Dr.Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog), Jeffrey Bell (Angel, Alias) and Jeph Loeb (Smallville, Lost, Heroes) comes Marvel’s first live-action TV series, MARVEL’S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.

Agent Althea Rice/Melinda May has been cast

The character previously known as Althea Rice has been cast. The character has gotten a new name, tho. Ming-Na Wen will play S.H.I.E.L.D Agent Melinda May aka 'The Calvary" in the new S.H.I.E.L.D. TV show, that will be broadcast by ABC.

After the casting of Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson, is Ming-Na Wen the second actor that has been cast for this upcoming TV show by Joss Whedon.

Melinda May is a hard core soldier, who will have expert weapon skills. She is also an excellent pilot. Her past experiences have damaged her and makes her a very quiet person.

Ming-Na Wen is mostly known for her role in ER, but she had parts in Eureka, SGU Stargate Universe, Two And A Half Men and Vanished too. You could also know her voice from Mulan or from Detective Yin from The Batman.

Joss Whedon will write the pilot, together with his brother Jedd, and the finance of Jedd Whedon, Maurissa Tancharoen. Jeph Loeb will join Jedd Whedon and Tancharoen in being the executive producer of the show.

Marvel's President of Production, Kevin Feige, released plot detail, episode stills and a teaser poster for the movie that will hit cinema's next year May. Take a look at them here:

Tony Stark is partially suited up in his 'dressing room'

In the previous Iron Man and Avengers movie, Tony Stark wore seven different suits. But Stark is developing the suit further and further and this suit will be the most advanced version we have seen until now. Also the way Stark gets his suit on, will be more advanced than it was.

Here you can see the new Iron Man suit, that Tony Stark has developed, and his new gadgets.

Here we can see Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) holding one of Iron Man's masks, after Tony Stark's mansion was blown up by the Mandarin.

During the three movies with Iron Man that are already released (Iron Man 1, Iron Man 2 and The Avengers) we saw Pepper Potts and Tony Stark growing in their relationship. In Iron Man 3 their relationship will be filled with a lot of trial and retribution. Potts will get a big part in the new movie.

Further Kevin Feige let know that the goal of Iron Man 3 is to show that one superhero is at least equally interesting as a whole team of Avengers.
